Just inside the Clare border, Whitegate is only a short distance from a number of lakeside facilities, among them a private harbour at Williamstown, where a hire-cruiser operation is based. A public harbour is under construction and the village has great fishing potential.
With a backdrop of the Slieve Aughty Mountains, among some of the most beatiful views in Ireland, Whitegate village and Mountshannon village offer pubs, shops and restaurants, just 20 minutes drive lies the lively village of Killaloe.
Nearby amenities include golfing, fishing, boating, watersports, the famous East Clare walk, and horseriding. There are many delightful historical sites in this area. Holy Island, Portumna Castle and Bunratty Castle are prime examples.
